Bridle for a 5 mm Upgraded Sweety
As you can see on the picture, the bridle is a standard bridle, slightly modificated to have more indoor performance. (Upper LE and Lower LE slightly changed), but more important an extra line is added to give you more control, when the sweety is in the fade position.
This modification will NOT allow to backspin, but you will make some nice jacobs ladders and some more nice things, when you give it some time and try to explore the new possibities. If you print this page, you eventually can’t read the colored picture, here is the bridle setup written down:
This bridle setup is tuned to fly indoor, if you fly outdoor, eventually the line to the upper leading edge must be longer (0,5cm – 1,5 cm).
First the base 3 point Bridle:
towpoint to upper leading edge: 36 cm
towpoint to lower leading edge: 45 cm
towpoint to center tee: 38 cm (including the little 2 cm combined line of the left and right center tee line)
The new part:
On the center knot point of the three bridle lines, attach a line with 21 cm (plus e.g. 4 cm Tow line). Make a knot on the line exactly at 21 cm away from the 3 point connection.
Fix the outer Standoff holder on the spreader with glue or tape. The standoff holder must be 11 cm away from the leading edge (when the kite is completely assembled). on the outer side, next to the fixed standoff holder, you will attach a bridle line.
This bridle line from the lower spreader is 51 cm long and will be attached at the 21 cm know of the new line.
Thats all. When you fly the sweety, you will not feel any differences, except the sweety is in fade position.
Now the new bridle line is activated and you will have more control.
Please note that this setup is only tested indoor.
If try it out, please let me know, what you think about the conversion. My email address is daniel (at) flinkmann.de .
