New Designs
Quad Line Concepts
Since early 2003 I began developing different kind of quad line kite prototypes. All the ideas have nearly nothing in common with the current quad line kites like the Revolution, Synergy Deca or the Airbow. All ideas were mostly crazy, uncommon and often have to be dropped again, because needed connectors or material is not available on the market or just too expensive to build.
However some ideas were already past the prove of concept, so they really fly and I have much fun with them.
The problem with absolutely new concepts is that you don’t have any base parameters for size, aspect ratios etc. So after I found out that a prototype fly, I have to change all kind of sizes. So I’m building bigger and smaller versions, higher and lower sails and even the whole sail shape is changing with all these different variants.
One of my first proved concepts is now 3 years old and I’m still changing sizes and shapes and even framing techniques (not just framing diameters ;-) ). Sure this costs a hell of money, but it is indeed the only way to get a new concepts done and hopefully make the kiting scene a bit more colorful.
Quad-Concept M4I
Expected Performance: Ultra tricky quad line kite / fair precision / made for quad and dual line experienced fliers.
Wind ranges: First of all an UL hopefully a Standard kite. I’m very sure that a smaller Indoor version will be possible, since all concepts were flyable indoor already even if they were to large.
Completion Status: 50%
Comments: I’m working already extremely long on this concept.
The good thing: the kite already proved very well trickability (Hell yeah, I nailed Lazy Susan and even Backspins with a quad). The bad thing: I really have problems getting it in the right shape to have a larger wind range and getting durable connectors which holding the very uncommon shape of the kite.
Quad-Concept X6I
Expected Performance: Fair trick kite / fair precision / made for quad starters to experienced fliers.
Wind ranges: Unknown up to now.
Completion Status: 5%
Comments: The first prototype to prove concept is done and this time I learned from the M4I project and I’m capable of more common framing connectors which helps a lot. However this kite will eat up much more time to complete due to its 3d shape.
Indoor Dual Line Kites
Both prototypes were already completed. See the Amidy and ITrix information on this web site. The Amidy will be built on request by Arne Andersen and the ITrix is available at Drachenkiste Siebert
New Prototype for 2006:
Concept SDR
Expected Performance: Fun with loads of tricks. Slightly less than the ITrix but hey :-)
Wind ranges: Indoor
Completion Status: 40%
Comments: No Comments up to now.
Outdoor Dual Line
I have a new project starting Spring 2006. I can’t say too much about it, but it will be a nice project on the cheaper price range.
Concept TNS
Expected Performance: good precision, extremly well trickability, dam good design
Wind ranges: Standard wind range
Completion Status: 3%
Comments: No Comments up to now ;-)
General Stuff
All ongoing projects are not that urgent, so I’m always open for new toys and requests. I am not bound to any manufacturer so I always like to test fly some new kites and write reviews for kite magazines or give you as a kite manufacturer feedback to preproduction kites.
If you are a kite manufacturer and you are currently working on an ultra light or even better a street / indoor kite and you need a development partner, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would like to offer my experience as a co-developer for your projects.
